About the Author

Michael Napier joined the RAF in 1978 as a university cadet and studied aeronautical engineering at the Imperial College, London. After qualifying as a fast jet pilot in 1985, he was posted to RAF Bruggen in Germany where he spent two tours flying Tornado GR1s. He then enjoyed a short spell as a tactics instructor, flying Hawks at the Tactical Weapons Unit at RAF Chivenor in Devon, before returning to Bruggen--and the Tornado GR1--as a Flight Commander. His military flying career encompassed both the Cold War and operations over Iraq after the Gulf War. After completing two tours as a headquarters staff officer, he left the RAF in 1997 and joined British Airways. He has over 15,000 hours of flying experience.Michael has written a number of articles for aviation magazines including Aircraft Illustrated, Flypast, Aeroplane Monthly, and Cross & Cockade. He has also appeared on BBC radio and television and BFBS radio. He is the author of four books: Winged Crusaders: The Exploits of 14 Squadron RFC & RAF 1915-1945, Blue Diamonds: The Exploits of 14 Squadron RAF 1945-2015, Tornado Over the Tigris: Recollections of a Fast Jet Pilot, and Gloster Javelin: an Operational History. Very disappointed. This book is basically a catalogue of RAF operations, military and, occasionally, civilian in mostly chronological order with minimal commentary or analysis. I found it to be boring in the extreme, as one would find any catalogue of this length. The book is, however, filled with interesting photographs (black & white and color), though many are of less than stellar quality. While there many illuminating descriptions of obscure engagements by the RAF throughout the world (especially in the 1930's and 40's in India and the Middle East), I would argue that this book largely "misses the forest for the trees" -- too many citations of this squadron operating here and that squadron operating there without any "big picture" analysis of their relevance to anyone except, perhaps, for those personally involved (and their families) and the squadron historians.

Written by a veteran military and commercial pilot, this lavishly illustrated volume marks the centennial of the Royal Air Force in grand style. Yet the book is not quite perfect, hence the four-star rating based on a variety of factors. While the text is extensive and authoritative, the layout makes readability unnecessarily difficult with overly lengthy text passages, sometimes one block consuming most of one page. Innumerable paragraph breaks are omitted, even when the subject clearly changes.The author describes RAF evolution and growth, from amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service in April 1918, retaining a partial naval focus until independence of the Fleet Air Arm in 1937. Aside from insight into the administrative battles before and after the RAF's formation, the text is thorough in covering operations around the world. Many readers will learn about little-known activities in the far-flung British Empire, including "air control" campaigns in the Middle East between the wars.As expected, the World War II sections account for a sizable portion of the text. Like the other portions of the book, WW II ops are heavy with squadron identifications, with individual units probably amounting to scores of entries. Curiously, the Battle of Britain segment ends without a specific reference to the end of the world's first significant air-defense campaign.A relatively minor nit to pick: the unnecessary elaboration "RE8 aircraft" or "Tornado aircraft" may reflect British or RAF usage, but it is perfectly clear to any reader that the subject is in fact an airplane/aeroplane.Some of the black and white photos are somewhat grainy but most seem warranted because of their rarity. On the other hand, most of the color photos are glorious.The index is extensive, with entries for almost every aircraft type (current transports, tankers and helos as well as "fighterjets"), many named operations (Banner to Zamary Kargha) and about 15 Royal Navy ships, mainly aircraft carriers.The 340-page book properly ends with a short discussion of the RAF's future, especially relevant when all of HM's forces face serious reductions. But throughout, the centenary history accords proper recognition to the service's deserved reputation for innovation, professionalism, and gallantry.

About the Author

Spiros Zodhiates was born March 13, 1922 to Greek parents on the island of Cyprus. After completing his Greek education, he attended the American University in Cairo, Egypt, The National Bible Institute, and New York University. He earned his Doctor of Theology degree from Luther Rice Seminary. In addition, Dr. Zodhiates was the recipient of several honorary doctorates. While serving in the British Army in Cairo, Egypt, Zodhiates received The Voice of the Gospel, a magazine published by The American Committee for the Evangelization of the Greeks. To pass the time, he decided to write an article for the magazine. He wrote it in English and, not thinking about it, wrote the accompanying letter in Greek. When they realized they had found someone who loved the Lord and knew both languages, they invited him to come to America in 1946. In 1966, they elected Zodhiates as president of what is now called AMG International (Advancing the Ministries of the Gospel). Under his leadership, AMG grew from a small ministry focusing on the land of Greece to a worldwide evangelistic and relief ministry. AMG International provides a wide range of social services, including care for orphans and leprosy patients, and has an expanding evangelistic thrust of advertising the message of the gospel through paid newspaper and magazine gospel messages in many lands and languages. His mission was the regeneration of souls, but he did not ignore the physical needs of the people he met. The author of over 200 books and booklets in English, as well as 82 in Greek, Zodhiates started a book house, AMG Publishers, which has since grown into a significant producer of Bibles and Christian books. On October 10, 2009, Dr. Spiros Zodhiates was called home by his Heavenly Father. Throughout his six decades of leadership, Dr. Zodhiates demonstrated a profound commitment to the Word of God and a singular focus on accomplishing his calling faithfully. I've only had this KJV Key Word Study Bible for a couple of days, but I already realize its tremendous value to my study of God's Word. I purchased the black genuine leather, non-indexed edition based on personal preferences. Right out of the box, I applied three applications of a leather conditioner to soften and protect the leather. I do this with all my leather and bonded leather bibles. It has served me well over the years. I included a link to the product I used: Bickmore Bick 4 Leather Conditioner 8 OuncesContrary to several other reviewers here, I love the paper used in this bible. It's the way bible paper used to be before publishers recently began switching to cheaper, newsprint that I find much harder to read because it's no longer bright white, but rather a cream or buff color. This bible uses white paper, which is imperative for letter clarity, in my opinion. With respect to being on the thin side, as long as you use a ballpoint pen or lead pencil to write your own comments in the margins you will be fine. You can also use a smooth gel highlighter with no major bleed through issues using moderate pressure. I hope they don't change the paper used in this bible!PROS: *I love having the Strong's Dictionary and AMG's excellent Complete Word Study Dictionaries readily accessible within my bible *The dictionary numbering system is readily explained and very understandable in the first few pages of the Book *The special features of this bible are also detailed in the first few pages *I especially appreciate the Grammatical Notations explanations starting on page 1585, e.g. Active Voice, Aorist Subjunctive, Optative Mood, etc. This is so invaluable to comprehending the true context of usage, intent and conversation in the Word of God. *The binding is sewn - a huge plus for longevity under heavy use *Gold gilt is excellent *Two dedicated, blank Notes pages at back of bible (front and back of one piece of paper) *Paper is good quality bible paper as was typical of bibles published prior to this century. Also, it's actually white, which makes for a good contrast to both black and red inks used within its pages. The red ink is red - not pink, orange or burgundy. *My shipment included a handy bookmark with a quick reference of the Grammatical Codes to the Grammatical Notations used in this bible (see photo).CONS: *The quality of genuine leather is not the best and rather stiff right out of the box; however it's softening more and more as I apply a good quality leather conditioner (see link above for the one I'm using). (Also see provided photos of how the bible lays open on my hand after 3 applications of conditioner.) *Only one, narrow ribbon included *End papers are glued, not stitched; but a decent thickness; this is a bible I will be very willing to invest in a new, top quality rebinding if or when the need arises years from now!SUMMARY:This study bible is a treasure for the Berean-minded student of God's written word. I highly recommend it and strongly encourage you to buy one!

I had this Bible before back in the early '90's, when it specifically had Dr. Spiros Zodhiates' in depth commentaries. This version, though is the same with its words and numbers, but it leaves out MANY of his in-depth commentaries on specific words, particulary words pertaining to Christ. For example, in my previous copy (that got ruined) it explains why Jesus is the called Son of God (huios theos), and is never called a child of God ( teknon theos). Instead of it being a lexicon like my previous copy, it's a dictionary of the hebrew and greek words in its basic meanings.

If you are really serious about studying the Bible, I believe that this is a Bible that can help if you use it "religiously." As noted, it gives both Hebrew and Greek explanations and definitions. The key words in the text are numerically coded to James Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible (noted in the introduction). It has a Concordance of its own to the Old and New Testaments. It even has a guide to transliteration from Greek to English with modern pronuciation guidelines.I received this study Bible January 2011. So far, it has really helped me as I study God's Word. In fact, it is such a help that using it with The New Strong's Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible sometimes allows me to study only one verse during a study session because of the information, the underlined key words or phrases that may be studid further by looking up the corresponding numbers in the appropriate dictionary and or Concordance, the cross references, the italicized marginal notes, and much more. If you decide to buy it, use it. It can elevate your studying to a "higher" level.

Shalom shalom Hebrews! This is one of the best study Bibles I ever came across I highly recommend this, if you want to learn the route and translations of the Hebrew word and Greek words then this is the study Bible to get. I'm getting all my precepts ready and my old sword and eventual plug them in this Study Bible. This Bible also has precepts pre-installed in the middle of the Bible and some of them are good and some of them are bones anyway get it get it now.

A great bible to have. It has become my #1 go to study bible. For what it has inside of it, I'm glad I have one. When I study the Word of GOD, I do not need to have so many different books open at the same time. This one book covers a lot for a good solid daily study. Everything in this book is a good an great work for understanding who the True Living GOD is, and our intimate relationship we have in the whole household of GOD; "For HIS Good Pleasure".

I got this bible and it was what I was expecting and more. It has definitions and descriptions as thick as the Bible portion, both the Hebrew and Greek translations, and multiple translation. Breaking it down to word parts, tense, and possible other meanings. The only thing I didn’t like was these are in the back, in a numerical order according to where first found in scriptures. So there is a lot of flipping back and forth.

This bible is awesome. Actually awesome is an understatement. I have a new passion for studying now. I used to have to use my laptop and have several tabs open in order to study my bible, but now that's a thing of the past. This bible has and old testament dictionary and a new testament dictionary right in the back, with greek and hebrew definition. This is a keeper.

This was a gift. The recipient was very happy with this Bible. I have this Bible in an older edition which is larger and heavier. This one is much easier to handle, hold and read. Print size is really good. The cover is great, very durable. Great for studying the Hebrew - Greek - English texts. Great format and easy to follow.

Soon protestors are leaving obnoxious posters and other items outside the Temple residence, a useless gesture as the daily shocking announcements continue.Iris is dying and the ghosts of the house are busy, busy, busy! Ivy will not go easy and the scene describing her eventual passing is absolutely amazing! So too is the reading of the will and the choices of the beneficiaries are wild, to say the least!Sally and Queenie save these characters from becoming scarred, bitter people. The scenes of their conversations and the ensuing healing are so real and heart-warming, never to be forgotten by any and all readers. Descriptions of luscious Southern meals are scattered throughout the novel as well!There is so much more within these pages that this reader didn’t want the novel to end but to continue forever. Temple Secrets has been compared to other popular novels, but this particular novel is so uniquely wonderful and is highly recommended! Magnificent novel!

As a Southern woman, I am always drawn to books about the Southern way of life and its many complexities. Susan Gabriel has written a book that lets the reader into a world filled with taboos, traditions that are not something that is to be bragged about, into the lives of those held hostage to these secrets. I loved this book....reading it until the very end. I found myself thinking of growing up in Texas through the years, 64 years to be exact, and how many changes have taken place that have been a blessing. I grew up living with Civil War history, with the emancipation that came through Martin Luther King's endeavors, with how society still deals with archaic traditions on how people must act and live. In this book, Temple Secrets, I was reminded of those days. Of things that are still being dealt with within our society. And I applaud Ms. Gabriel, for the ability to write a book that makes the reader think, feel and leave the end of the story....wanting more....and with things that the reader can still ponder upon. Kudos to the author for a fabulous read. I heartily recommend this book!!! Please give readers more of the South.

Temple Secrets is the kind of well crafted book that, once closed, causes you to wonder what to do next with your life. Author Susan Gabriel created a story chock-full of Southern characters and never once condescended to anything campy, rather, she infused every character with soul as they walked the wire of a story so unique as to be plausible, of character nuance so defined, you understood the underlying motivation behind every thought and deed in this electrifyingly unusual gem of common history experienced individually by players so intertwined, their lives are domino effects wrought from the hands of each other. And oh, the tone of this book: it is bluntly in your face without being offensive. Susan Gabriel writes in a direct, brass tacks voice that is howlingly funny, for all its taboo subjects, and I relished every line. The premise of Temple Secrets is this: In blue-blooded, aristocratic Savannah, where the mansions aregothic and imposing as they retain the character of days gone by, supercilious eccentric, Iris Temple, is on her last leg. For decades, she has ruled the roost of everything and everyone around her. She is one of Savannah's inflexible old guard and proud of it to the point that she wields her power position in society like a sword. Hers is a personality so full of controlling disdain that she is feared not only by her family and staff, but by the denizens of Savannah, whose tether she keeps tight by her family's book of secrets, which details intimate, damaging facts best not publically revealed. Iris is estranged from her full-grown daughter, looks down on her mulatto half-sister, who lives with her, and is catered to beyond reason by a handful of staff, who prefer not to stir the waters of Iris' own self-image. Very informative. Lots of history, lots of background on Jewish weddings. I am a "practicing" Reform Jew, meaning that I don't keep Kosher or Shabbat, but I participate in my Jewish community and go to temple 2-3 times per month. So with my background, the book seems to come from a very religious place, and much of the material is more relevant for a Conservative or Orthodox wedding (more so that for a Reform wedding). This being said, it is still can appeal to a wide audience and has small sections to address inter-faith and LGBT weddings. The 2001 revision feels a bit outdated in 2017 with very few internet references. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's a good read, I enjoyed it, and it gives a thorough overview of what to consider in any Jewish wedding. Recommend getting this as soon as you get engaged!

Whether you know a lot about Jewish customs and traditions or not, this is a great read. It has already added a few beautiful additions (veiling ceremony and Yichud) to our day.Thank you for the informative and beautiful book. She never says, "do it this way or you are bad." Just like Judaism, she gives you glimpses into the history (best guess actually), why it matters and how it may matter to you (or not) with no pressure or implied guilt if you choose not to conduct yourself one way or the other.This book gives you the freedom to truly enjoy your celebration knowing you know what you need to know, and inspires the "how" to express what you want to express ... To your groom/bride, family, friends, yourself and the universe.

Just okay. My partner and I are an interfaith couple and the rabbi that's marrying us recommended this book. It's a quick, easy read and a very very basic introduction to Jewish weddings. Imagine sitting down to a cup of coffee with a sort-of-crazy hippy-ish friend who was raised Jewish and has been to a few Jewish weddings and hearing her ideas; that's this book. There's a lot of silly information on things like wedding invitations or how to deal with your future in-laws, which I consider more the domain of a wedding book (or magazine) than a book specific to the Jewish wedding. I wish this book included more detailed information on customs and halachah and a little less fluff.

I originally bought this book from amazon when I first got engaged. My fiance and I are both jewish and have been to many many jewish weddings, but I wanted to learn more. So, I found this book because of all the glowing reviews! And I would like to add another one! As I said in the title, I read it once and since I kept telling my fiance little tidbits that I didn't know or things that were interesting, he asked to borrow the book. After his first reading he said that he wanted to review certain sections, highlight them and then pass this book onto his mother! I really found Diamant's book to be greatly inspiring and full of explainations on what parts are necessary in a jewish ceremony and what parts are customs and why. She really appeals to a large audience because she does not assume you have to be orthodox to understand or take part in anything she discusses. This book has also inspired me to have a Friday night "Sabbath" dinner with close family before our wedding and integrate some rituals I didn't know about previously, like both mothers breaking a plate. (Read the book to find out what it means!) And since I am having a long engagement, I am going to have to refresh my memory soon because when I read it I just remember saying out loud "Oh, that is so cool! I want that to happen during my ceremony too!"BUY THIS BOOK! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I highly recommend this book if you would like to learn more about Jewish weddings. The book is full of information but written in a very concise and readable manner. This book was also recommended to me by two rabbis.

As a Jewish convert, marrying a man with only unmarried brothers, I had no Jewish family to whom to ask questions. I had never attended a Jewish wedding, and I was going to be having one! This book was invaluable to me. Even as a Reform Jew, with many items not applicable, it helped so much to learn the history and customs, the traditions. I loved reading the book, the wisdom, the ideas, the sensibility. I found it hugely helpful, and a warm companion as I sorted through choices. I think any Jewish bride could find help here. The book is inexpensive for the value I received.

Very useful for me, particularly as I am a "new face under the canopy." I learned a lot and walked away understanding traditions and feeling as though I could find a meaningful way to include Jewish traditions in our interfaith wedding and incorporate them into our life together. The book was a bit repetitive at times, and could probably use another update, as it is 15 years old and much has changed in that period, but overall - very worthwhile and approachable.

As a CIO I need to manage the people who manage my network. I don't need to know everything, but I need to know enough about what they suggest to make good decisions. This book is a good review for someone like me who has been out of school for years and needs to catch up on the latest options in networking. It is also a good primer before reading more specialized books. It helped me get a grasp on things before I started studying the differences between VMWare and Hyper-V.

If you want Windows networking info, then this book is probably fine. But if you're wanting to learn Unix, Linux, etc., then not so much. The book sort of pretends to cover all flavors, but in actuality, very little info is here for anything other than Windows. Although there are chapters and specific cases citing Windows, nearly all the generic information is also about Windows ONLY.

First class all-in-one book about networking principles.However, buyers planning to set up a small Windows peer-to-peer or home wireless network should probably look elsewhere.The focus of this book is on larger switched Ethernet networks in a business or academic setting.

If you feel overwhelmed by the subject of networking and don't know where to start, this is not a bad place. The nine mini-books contained in this all-in-one do a pretty good job of introducing the various subtopics in this very broad field. Some subjects are covered in more depth than others. I especially appreciated the chapter on Network Standards and Protocols and the mini-book on TCP/IP and the Internet. Some of the troubleshooting tips I thought were pretty lame.I am not generally one to buy dummies books. I don't like the way they tend to waste my time with silly jokes. Nonetheless, this book has been useful to give a gentle introduction to a complex and highly technical subject area. Now I know enough of the basics and terminology to proceed elsewhere with my studies. This book is not a keeper for me.

My enthusiasm for Doug Lowe goes back many years, when I used his manuals as an IBM mainframe programmer. The style of this book is easy to read, with some geek humor. Some study of the book's organization produces facility in finding answers to my questions. There is also a website for this particular book that provides additional and timely information.

This is a great book to get back into IT. I am learning a lot from this book. It's very helpful.

I am an electrical engineer and my by brother,who is a mechanical engineer, is always asking my electronic/electric/networking questions so I got it for him. He loves it.

Since I began reading this "NOVEL" as one could put it, I have been awestruck by its basic layout and superb descriptions of everything you wanted to know about networking but were afraid to ask. My job which deals with training operators, engineers, and technicians on DCS equipment and networking of other systems to them, and being able to tie the system to HMI's which are laptop and desktop PC's with windows server 8 and windows 7 thorugh networking applications.This I highly recommend for the beginner networker who wants to know the "Straight up" on the "Whole 9 yards" of networks. I can't say enough about the material and it's clarity on ALL the topics!!
