A Must Have for a Speed Racer fan or manga fanaticThese 2 terrific volumes may retain the American names of the characters but that DOES detract from the terrific tales and timeless artwork of Tatsuo Yoshida. While all the chapters were adapted into anime, there are enough differences in the Manga for a reader to have a wholly unique experience. The forward by Peter Fernandez (Speed Racer's voice actor) also adds some historical insight of the series' legacy.10/10. Would but again!GO SPEED RACER GO!
If you're a fan of the original speed racer this is a must have! I love it. The box set comes with the 2 volumes and a mach 5 card board case for the 2 volumes, which is surprisingly durable and nice if you plan to keep it as a collectible. Mine came with a few dents in it from shipping, but still looks ok
Pretty odd after reading all these reviews that no one mentioned that the books start in color and the rest of 90% is in b&w ? They are still great books and I'm sure I will enjoy them. I was just expecting ALL color.........call me crazy.
I was delightfully surprised at the quality of these books and the casing they come in. I was a little skeptical because the price seemed too good to be true but this set is great. Most of the book is in black and white (which I don't mind) and it reads like a Japanese comic. I would definitely recommend.
My wife got me this as a gift cause she knows I loved the show growing up. The translations great. The intro has some nice background info on how the episodes were made. Now I want to watch the show...
I love it!!! Big fan of the old show (and yes I like the live action movie too) so I am so excited to read the manga! 4 stars because the box came a bit dammaged
I gave this to my eldest son as a birthday present (he is hog-wild over speed racer in all its forms). This is perhaps his most treasured possession. He rarely lets anyone else touch it, for fear they will bend a page, or drop it and damage a cover.I am not entirely sure I can add to the positiveness of this review beyond that sort of endorsement.If you like Speed Racer, get this. It is worth it.
I love all things Speed Racer and this set is great, only took one star off due to black and white pics and no color.
