In the beginning section before the main exercises with the actual music, there are numerous grammatical errors needing additional editing & corrections. Some of the two other language translations bleeding into the English version, needing correction. The music portion seems great so far, I just started using it on page1097 with Interval Studies. And of course it is too small to read as is on my iPad mini. But, as others have written, it is easily adjustable to larger with two fingers expanding the page out to as large as possible. Definitely not as readable as the printed version, but much better than carrying the heavy book while traveling. A wonderful travel companion while "on the road". I've been using Arban's Compete Method Book for over 30 years, and it is an essential part of my practice routine. I love an really appreciate to have this possibility, electronic and so easy to carry with me - for that it is worth 5 stars even with it's flaws.
This is one of the best kindle books I have used. Do not be put off by the size of the fonts. Two finger resizing is easy. Extract a scale size it up play directly from your device. The electronic version replicates the original book perfectly. In the paper version as you well know some of the notes are hard to distinguish. This ePub fixes that. It is worth the investment. ENJOY!
Been playing out of the Arban for years, it really is a top-notch resource for trumpet players!
The musical staff lines and notes are a little blurry. Also, the music is too small to read unless you click or tap to enlarge it. However, this prevents you from turning the page until you press the x at the top corner. This makes it very inconvenient if you want to read a piece that spans more than one page. Overall, that is a lot to pay for this quality level, especially when the technology for making a much better formatted ebook is readily available. I' vs actually bought a few other music ebooks and most of them have these same problems. How disappointing:(
The content of this edition is great, if only I could read it. The print is indistinct and is exceptionally small, making it a strain to read even if wearing reading glasses. Furthermore, all of the text passages are printed in three different languages, rendered in three separate columns, all on the same page, resulting in a great deal of useless and crowded text.
Arban method is the most comprehensive. I have used it over nearly a lifetime now and still love it.
This version was a good value. The binding is sewn (rather than glued), so it seems sturdy and functional so far. It stays open to the page you want relatively well too.
As the write-up tells us, this book provides a complete method for students who want to learn the trumpet or cornet. The guide was published more than 150 years ago and is still in print because it truly is effective at teaching how to play. It begins withe the basics and progresses as students learn and become more comfortable with the instrument.The book was recommended for my son's lessons and it had to be purchased if he wanted to learn as much as he could. The price is phenomenal given that previous versions used to sell for twice as much at a time when the dollar had a higher purchase price. As the five star rating shows I recommended it highly.
