This is the best single book on business I have ever read. If I was pointing anyone to a business career, I would give him two things: Warren Buffett's 30 years' back annual reports, and this book. The first, more of an investor's guidebook. The second (Jaffe's), a book on what it is like to take an idea, turn it into a business, and go head-on-head against the behemoth competitors in America's continent-wide economy, and win. Once you read his book, you will find out why there are very few successful entrepreneurs out there -- it is phenomenally hard, day in and day out. Seeing how it happened (twice) through Jaffe's eyes is like seeing how it is to fly aerial combat through the eyes of Chuck Yeager (and with about the same fear factor). If Harvard Business School does not make this book mandatory reading for its case studies, go to Wharton.
Fortunately for me, the release of this book happened to fall on my last day of my vacation. After only a few pages, I was absolutely hooked and just finished the entire read in one day. Turning Crisis into Success combines captivating storytelling with practical business and life lessons that are applicable whether you are a CEO, entry level individual contributor, stay at home parent or student. Bravo to this wonderful father-daughter team!
