Even us Kids were in it.How proud & lucky we were with the SCRAP DRIVES. The first I remember was the lead drive & I donated all my lead soldiers,threw them in the back of the collection truck parked in front of the movie & was permitted to go to the show free.This book tells what the grown ups were doing to win that War.What an adventure with the whole nation’s focus was Victory.Give a cheer & shed a tear as you read what many of our heroes gave to this gargantuan effort.If this book doesn’t “choke you upâ€with the selfless heroism,you must have fell asleep.Standby for a great read.
Once again, the memories of the young men who placed their lives on the line, saw friend and brothers in arms fight and die for an ideal- the preservation of our freedoms and democracy, is wonderfully told. Another book is to be read, with further history of WWII, told in the first person. The lessons learned are slowly being forgotten, and they must not be. These stories help to preserve them. Read them.
This is the third book in the series "the Things Our Father's Saw" that I have read. I was first drawn to it as like many of my generation from the baby boomers I never questioned my dad about the experiences he had in the War in the Pacific and realized how important it would be for me to understand what the men and women of our nation went through. Each book has helped me understand that and although it is too late to tell my father how proud I am of his service it is not to late to make sure I let every veteran I meet that I am thankful for what he had done for our country.
Excellent first person accounts of some of our World War Two veterans, as they lived through them during some very trying times as they fought to preserve our democracy for future generations. I will definitely read more of Matthew Rozell's books as I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I am glad this was only $2.99. What is here is good and I absolutely support histories of this kind, but there is not much content here.
Hat's off to the men and women that saved our nation and the world from fanatical tyranny. It is almost too late for us to get their stories. Thanks so much for all of your efforts.
It is a pleasure to read the stories of the men who literally saved the free world during WWII. I question whether our country could do the same today.
