A very interesting look at the development of some of the games that shaped the development of MMOs and the internet itself that I'd recommend to anybody who likes to nerd out about systems. A fair bit of it is repurposed content from his blog, but there's enough new material and exploration of game design concepts that come from a refreshingly different perspective than seen in today's AAA landscape to make it well worth a read, especially if you haven't already trawled through his archives like I have.

Brings back some nostalgia. Recommended if you have played some of the games in there.

I'm sure many aspiring game makers would jump at the chance to sit down with Raph Koster and listen to him share his design wisdom and industry experience. Thankfully, Koster's new book "Postmortems" frees up the author's schedule and provides the reader with a greatest hits of some of the biggest lessons Koster learned while working on LegendMUD, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and Privateer Online.But rather than just cover game design, this tome touches on Koster's experiences creating, running, and maintaining online worlds and communities as well as the trials, tribulations, and victories associated with them. This book is both thought provoking and comforting. It brings peace because the words Rachael so beautifullly writes are true and based in scripture. The book has ten chapters that address different areas of life that we sometimes experience anxiety. Some chapter titles include When I’m anxious about God, When I’m anxious about my marriage, When I’m anxious about motherhood, When I’m anxious about my calling, and When I’m anxious about my friendship. Each chapter points us to the truth and hope we find in looking to a God who is big enough and strong enough to handle our questions. He cannot be shaken.

Reading this book is like sitting down for coffee with a good friend and talking for hours about life and the good and the bad and the questions. And through it all, that friend listens and then always directs the conversation back to the Bible, to the Gospel, to Christ. Reading this book was encouraging to my soul, a reminder that I am not alone in doubts and anxiety, and that God is truly enough.

Although I myself do not struggle with anxiety, I was struck by Rachael's handling of this difficult topic. The way she engaged the reader with vignettes from her own life was captivating, as was her pursuit of peace found in Biblical truths and the promises of God. An honest, graceful account that I enjoyed and highly recommend.

She brings her questions and fears before the Lord, knowing that He can handle them all - and encourages her reader to do the same. This book is a beautiful resource for those who are trying to trust the Lord through the struggle of anxiety because it is written by someone in the same situation. Rachael believes that Scripture is wholly true and that God is good, even though her anxiety is very real and present. She writes in a way that makes you feel like you're simply sitting in her living room talking with her. It's an incredibly easy read for such a weighty topic. Strongly recommend.

Although none is actually a copy of any particular work, recognizable elements of the artist's style--impasto, haloes, discrete brushstrokes--distinguish them all. The subject matter is also familiar: cornfield, snow, sunflower, narrow red bed, flowering trees, rustic chair, etc. The intense palette of reds, oranges, blues, and purples also echoes the master. Great book about Vincent van Gogh. Perfect for my elementary art classroom. Students can read to themselves when they finish early and can learn much from reading this book.

THE FIRST STARRY NIGHT provides a perfect introduction for children to the life and works of the artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Jacques sees past the rough exterior that Van Gogh portrays to others and recognizes the loneliness and longing for friendship within his heart. We often forget that in their innocence children recognize the inner needs of another individual in ways that we as adults do not. A child is much more accepting of the uniqueness of the individual, not focusing on the oddities or eccentricities. Joan Isom portrays a kind and caring side of Van Gogh not often displayed in other books, but a side that every child should and needs to see. The comparison of the stars to a good painting or a good story in their everlasting qualities is one that should be instilled in every child. The emphasis on the fact that we all see things differently and an appreciation for those differences is a lesson that I try to incorporate daily in the classroom. I think that we all long for a "brother of the heart" and that those of us who are fortunate enough to have found such a person are truly blessed. This book provides the inspiration to each of us to reach out to others and to the stars just as Vincent Van Gogh did on that "starry night" long ago.

This test bank is great to pair up with the Wiley textbooks or to simply use for extra practice while utilizing another study program. Test bank is great but it does not specify which module you are at and does not link to the CPAexcel textbook explanation. The explanation why you got it wrong is not always detailed. The topics do not show subtopics with corresponding questions which is also important when studying. The access is good for 1 year only. I have been using this product for several weeks. Overall, it is a lot of questions to go through.

1/28/16 Update:I called Wiley this morning. The agent was prompt to grant me full access to 2015 test bank after I provided purchasing evidence. He explained that when purchasing the product from the 3rd party, sometimes PIN is not working. He also clarified the expiration date is one year from Activation date. I gave four stars because of Wiley's good customer service, not yet the content of test bank.DON'T buy this product. First, it is not as it claims to have content of 4,440 questions and 148 SIMS. After activating the PIN, I ONLY have access to Kieso Intermediate Accounting test bank for about 1,000 questions. Second, it will be expired ONE year from the date you purchase it, not the date you activate it. I will contact Wiley for sure, but this should not be the hassle I should have to go through, it the product is what is says.

Wings of Olympus is a beautiful story of a young girl chosen by the gods to race a winged horse on Olympus. It was a delight to read, and a fun story. I would recommend it for girls ages about 8-11. There are themes of love, friendship, honesty, and hard work. The relationship between Pippa and Zeph is sweet, and fun to watch it grow. Interesting how that affects the race as well.I love the Heartwood series (highly recommend them!), and this had a lot of the same gentle feel.The art is wonderful! Both the cover and pictures inside are a treat.There were a couple scary parts, like the lost former children riders in the forest. It's brief but pretty spooky.My personal disappointment was a few intriguing elements that were never built on! The introduction to the story gives a picture of the Fates, and rather than a thread being cut, it breaks and is tied again. I was immediately caught and thought, "Ooohh, how will that play into the story!" But it doesn't! I'm still confused by that. It seemed important, but it wasn't. I also wished for a bit more tying up at the end. She'd made these friends (and rivals) throughout the story, but suddenly she's away from them, and we don't get a picture of their ending or even much of hers. I didn't like Aphrodite at all, and she's the goddess of love! I felt like she would have behaved far differently.Still, a wonderful story. After my 9 year old reads it I'll add her review as well. I think she'll really like it.

Catana Chetwynd is a self-taught traditional artist and the enthusiastic author of Catana Comics.
