It is a fantastic book filled not only with Illustrations about the game but it also has lots of notes and sketches on the thought process behind them.BUT after a few months the glue on the "spine" of the book starts failing and soon the pages will come of, this has not happened with the other two art books i received with this on wich leads me to believe this is a specific problem to this book.

Okami is a very special treasure. It is easily one of the best video games of the 2000's, one of my all-time favorites, and is most definitely one of the most beautiful, uniquely artistic games of all time. Okami's graphics are immediately striking in their vibrant style and focus. If you're like me, and you love the art design behind Okami, then this is an essential purchase to make.First off, in keeping with the overall eastern focus of Okami, this book was kept in its Japanese format, so you'll be reading it right-to-left, "back"-to-"front." It's pretty enjoyable and easy to get used to. Thankfully, the book is wonderfully organized too. First is a section of water-color paintings of the final version of each character as you encounter them chronologically in-game, as well as information about them. After this, you get essentially the same thing, but about the enemies and bosses. Then is a conceptual section organized in the same order as the previous section, but instead of finalized versions, there are many conceptual sketches and really insightful commentary from the artists, detailing the process of making each character from start to finish. I found the commentary in this sections really fun to read; they are very informative and have a lot of character. Then comes conceptual paintings of enemies, with commentary on these. Next is concept art for the settings, again with fascinating insight from the artists. Finally, we get some paintings from "Issun the celestial envoy," which basically boil down to breathtaking paintings of key moments from the game and its story, done as if they were paintings from historical periods of Japanese art. These are the main sections of the book, but there are little bits here and there that are added in at various points in the book, such as unique pictures from events showcasing the game. It's all quite expansive.The book is huge, over 288 pages devoted to paintings, sketches, concept art, even music sheets, pretty much anything and everything artistic you can imagine pertaining to the game. Okami's gorgeous Eastern-influenced art style is designed to look like Japanese water color paintings, as well as the famous (and gorgeous) block print paintings of the Ukiyo-e style. This book is so beautiful, poignant, and just so delightful to behold in every aspect. I'd swear some paintings were done by Hiroshige himself! The writer commentary is awesome too, offering great insight and the kind of lovely humor that helps define the game itself. Some of the paintings really seem to fit in with the ancient, established styles that inspired them, and are just as beautiful too. I really cannot emphasize how lovely the art in this book is, it's fantastic.In pretty much every aspect, I'd say getting this book is a no-brainer. Even if you don't know about the game Okami, this book is worth getting for the merit of its art alone. It's exceptionally well organized, the commentary and information within is very engaging, and the art itself is absolutely spectacular. Buy it, take in the vibrant majesty of this art, and get lost in a truly beautiful world.

When I was younger, I played a lot of video games. However, the one that stood out the most for me was Okami, not only for its uniquely created world and illustrations, but also the unique gameplay, especially the use of a paintbrush as a weapon vs a gun or sword. I don't play video games much anymore, but really wanted this art book as I love the art and design of Okami. I was very pleasantly surprised when I got it. The illustrations and descriptions are full, and those who have not played the game will love the book even if for its unique illustrations. I highly recommend it to any art book lover.

Okami Official Complete Works is a compendium of artworks, illustrations, sketches and miscellaneous images from the game, which it's art is based in the traditional Japanese watercoulor style.A 288 page book that contains illustrations of all the characters and enviroments from the game, both official artworks and primary sketch dessings, aswell as a complete high-quality bestiary of all the monsters ecountered on the game, all presented in beautiful and wonderous manner, full of color and brightnes.Along with the artworks the book is complemented with information and data of all the characters, monsters and stages, including several notes from the designers explaining them, compleating the experience of the the game.Also the book contains several storyboards from in-game scenes, retro versions of some characters and even a music score for one of the game songs.An excellent compendium that captures the very essence of one of the most wonderful and creavite games ever, all wraped in a shiny holographic cover, a magnificent sight to behold.Any fan of Okami, video game artwork or Japanese style illustrations should have this masterpice, even if one has never played the game, it is not necessary to enjoy this wonderful pice of art.A recommendation that i made from the heart.

This has everything from early concept sketches when they weren't even sure what the player character would be, through to annotated character designs like from a Disney feature! There's also maps, the Bestiary Scroll, all the Brush gods, and so much more. The cover has metallic-gold for Ammy, and it's laid out for "back-to-front" reading according to Japanese writing's convention, even though this translation is in English, just for fun. I love this game so much I couldn't resist buying my own physical copy of the artbook, no matter how many crappy scans of it are already available on The Internet.

I bought this because I loved Okami. I loved the soundtrack, I love Ukiyo-e style art, and I loved the designs of this game. Plus it's always fun to see concept art and read notes and stuff from the visual team. There's plenty of awesome concept art in this book, and lots of official polished final art as well. Great variety, fun insight, definitely recommend!

What we need now is a new Utopia to aim for.Guaranteed income sounds impossibly expensive, but everywhere it has been tried – dozens of places - it has worked spectacularly. For one thing, every dollar spent saves three in less supervision of beneficiaries (eg. Police and court services, pointless workshops, training sessions and reports on everyone all the time). For another, the poor don’t drink away the income; they hang onto it dearly, measuring it out only as needed for the biggest impact. Poverty is not an attitude; it is a shortage of cash.Two hundred years ago, we worked 70 hour weeks with no days off. And we were miserable. Today, we can be miserable with 40 hour weeks, two days off and 2-5 weeks’ vacation. Soon, we must face the reality of 15 hour weeks, because artificial intelligence will pick up where automated looms, assembly lines and robots have left off. We can massage it into a Utopia, or let it destroy our fabric. Our choice, but we need to start acting now.Borders prevent development and trade. Mexicans used to return from the USA at the rate of 85%. Now they have to stay put. Finding new markets or even just work is enlarged with a larger territory. Artificially compartmentalizing everyone is stultifying. Economically, politically, and socially. Passports and visas – a totally artificial construct recently invented, benefitting no one.Bregman doesn’t get into the self-imposed need for growth, though he does criticize the concepts of GNP/GDP. He says governing by numbers is the last resort of a country that no longer knows what it wants, a country with no vision of utopia.He ends with sound advice for the Left: stop caving to right wing dogma. You have access to dramatic facts. Use them. There are gigantic, proven solutions waiting to be implemented if only someone would sponsor them. He points out that the accepted issues of the day, like voting by women, same sex marriage and abolition of slavery were outrageously radical and completely unacceptable just a few years ago. IMHO the largest problem we face in the Americas is income equality. Let Fox News scream "class war", the rich have been waging war against the middle class since Reagan. This book touches on this but mostly talks about universal basic income (I'm on board!), a shorter work week (although 15 hrs/wk seems too low) and open borders (I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around it). Other ideas include taxing capital instead of labor and a transaction tax on Wall Street. But let's face it, change cannot come until we remove the money from politics, taking power away from the insanely wealthy, corporations and special interest groups.

This was a great overview of how the idea of a basic income is both more possible and indeed has been more successful in the past than most people realize. Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle - changing people's perception - is only touched on. In some ways this feels like a really good professor telling you "And finally, as an exercise for the class...go change their minds."

In stream of elections that never seem to end -- I just voted in an Australian election today -- I never cease to be disappointed by the true lack of choices on offer. Like most countries we have two major parties. One vows to disassemble the social compact quickly and one will take a slightly slower course. What I see is a lack of imagination of how the world might be better and how the world align to where we are headed. Rutger Berman makes a number of proposals. You might say these proposals are unrealistic, but Bergman provides a well thought out analysis and makes a strong case. Among the things argued for are: a national social income, a reduced work week, and a reduction in the retirement age. I think it time that we start to engage with these ideas.

Mr. Bregman lays out three societal changes that can improve our world. He puts forth solid cases for all three and describes a better world. I would recommend this book to anyone discouraged by recent political movements looking for an alternative uplifting future.

This is probably the most accessible book ever written on complex social issues and a potential solution for them. It does not matter whether you like the idea of UBI or you are against it, this book is a must-read only by its merit of fluid style, readibility and professional, research-based journalism. If you were pro-UBI, it will solidify you in your position, if you you were neutral or against it for any reason or just pure prejudice, it will make you re-think and open your eyes.
